The patchwork quilt has long been an American tradition, symbolizing unity and strength. There is a new program beginning with the presidents support to bring 1,000,000 blankets to the needy this year.

The wonderful thing about this program is that it brings people together to make the goal possible. By offering lovely patchwork quilts backed with the January 20th 2009 inaugural address, the program will use your purchase to provide a blanket to those in need.

The Blanket America Patchwork Heritage Quilt features 13 fabrics in the traditional patchwork design. Each fabric piece represents a piece of our unique American strength, our diversity. This project is expected to increase in visibility and support as celebrities and public figures become involved. There are over 35 million Americans in poverty this year with a large portion of these being children. The Blanket America Program turns your quilt purchase into a warm blanket for a needy family. The goal of the program is to provide one million blankets this year, with your help.

On January 20th, 2009, President Obama delivered his famous inaugural address. He referred to our “patchwork heritage” as one of the unique features of our country. This message was the inspiration for this new program celebrating American diversity. The words of this inspiring speech are featured on the reverse side of the Blanket America Patchwork Quilt.

The Heritage Patchwork Quilt featured in this program is a traditional patchwork design that has been used for generations to create useful, warm, brightly colored bedding for family and friends. Comprised of 13 different fabrics, tightly sewn and quilted, this is a keepsake treasure that will commemorate our generous spirit for generations.

This inspiring keepsake represents the unity and strength through all people coming together. Turning to each other, making ethical choices and purchases, and choosing to be involved as Americans will allow us all to meet the challenges we face as a nation.
