The Blanket America Project launched at the end of December 2009 with great success. Thanks to the Today Show highlighting the Patchwork Heritage Collection, the word about the project has spread from coast to coast and border to border. Mesh Gelman, the Blanket America founder, pledged 5000 blankets during his visit to the Today Show on December 28th and 29th.
Joining Blanket America, Amazon.com is offering the Patchwork Heritage Collection as a pre-order item on their website. JC Penney stores are also due to begin carrying the collection nationwide on January 23rd. The collection is available for pre-order on their website right now. QVC has also signed on to support the Blanket America project, and is currently offering the Patchwork Heritage Collection for pre-order.
The Patchwork Heritage Collection is Blanket America’s buy one, give one public offering. With the purchase of each Patchwork Heritage quilt, a new fleece blanket is donated to charity. His campaign was run on the promise of hope and change. With the anniversary of his speech upon us, it’s time to reflect on the past years events in order to take stock of where we are in our lives. What has Barak Obama done for this nation? By some estimates: nothing. But by others: everything. What did that speech change about the lives of Americans?<o:p></o:p></div>

Obama made it clear that in our current situation it would take the help of each individual American to make a change within our nation. Obama said, “what is required of us now is a new era of responsibility—a recognition, on the part of every American” and “starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">America</st1:country-region></st1:place>.” <o:p></o:p></div>

Immediately after that speech was made, food banks that were critically low began to slowly fill back up. Homeless shelters received much needed donations and charitable organizations that were nearly defunct due to high demand were given hope for tomorrow.<o:p></o:p></div>

Due to the economic recession and the war, our nation is facing times some are comparing to the Great Depression. That is why the Blanket America charitable organization was formed.
